Preimplantation Genetic Sex Selection (PGS)
The ability to determine if an embryo carries an X (female) or y (male) chromosome at a very early stage helps a lot of families select the sex of their child, controversial as that subject may be. The technique involves going through an IVF cycle then examining a single cell from the 6-8 cell embryo. If the embryo is XX it is a female and if XY it will be a male. If it is found to be X or XXY, that would result in an infertile female or infertile male respectively. This method has 95-98% accuracy. A possible application is for women who have difficulties in pregnancy and need to have one more child of a specified sex, eg women who have already had a number of Cesarean sections and can only have one more.

Here, we are talking about infertile couples, who for medical reasons are not able to have child. A medical reason can take you to death, like Hepatitis or Heart Problem, and you rush towards treatment. Likewise, if there is problem with the Quality of the Sperms of Husband, or Ovary or Fallopin Tubes of the wife, you will get the treatment to correct these problems, and once these problems are over then you may have natural conception.
We very commonly hear about Heart Bypass, why we do that, when nature have decided our heart to slow down or stop working, why we are going for bypass? we should die, wait for death as our heart have become defected and we should not interfere in the Will of Allah, why we go for treatment?
Likewise, if the fallopin tubes of wife are damaged, or if husband is having problem with the capacity and quality of the sperm, then today using latest technologies, husband sperms can be injected in wifes egg, resulting in fertilisation. Then that fertilised egge is transfered to wife by the gynecologyst in Operation Theater. Thereafter, it is completely upon Allah's Will that whether that embryo implants or not, if embryo will implant then conception will take place, and embryo will start completing embryonic stages as per Quran:

Hence, if you are going for ICSI/IVF to avoid risk of chromosomal problems it is mendatory to check the embryos, specially male embryos before transfering into the wife.
If there is a newly married healthy couple, and they wish to go for Gender Selection just with a desire that they want a baby boy as being there very first child, it is not allowed. But infertile couples, couples who have been declared by their physician after one year of marital relationship as Issueless (Infertile) for any reason, they may further proceed towards ICSI/IVF with PGD.
